Trauma Therapy
Trauma is the result of any circumstance or event where you felt overwhelmed and helpless. There are many types of trauma, including: childhood abuse (emotional, physical, or sexual) or neglect, witnessing or experiencing violence, a natural disaster, a car accident, illness or injury of yourself or a loved one, sexual assault or abuse, witnessing an accident, death, or injury and many others.
People who have experienced trauma may notice themselves being triggered easily, having flashbacks or nightmares, having intrusive thoughts, feeling overwhelmed by typical life tasks, or having feelings of anxiety. Not everyone who experiences trauma develops Post Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD) or Acute Stress Disorder, but it can still have a dramatic effect on your life. We can help you heal from your past.
Trauma therapy can help you process your traumatic experiences and learn new coping skills to manage your emotions and feelings and reduce or eliminate your symptoms. EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing) therapy is especially helpful for resolving trauma. Let's begin your healing journey together today.
